Some really sad news about Woody, a big brown Labrador and one of my first, most regular and loved dogs, along with his best mate Olly, a yellow Labrador.
Woody was a big brown bear of a dog with a way of looking at you that made you think he had done something naughty, even though he hadn't. He was in good shape with no health issues, it was Olly who was older who was on tablets for his legs and who was slowing down a bit as the years wore on.
But Woody was taken seriously ill last week, and despite all efforts by John and his family and their vets to save him, they could not and he was put to sleep.
Olly will be coming back on his own later this summer for his holidays, but there will be a big Woody shaped hole in our hearts for him.
Our thoughts are with John and his family who were devoted to Woody at this awful time and who provided him with a fabulous life whilst he was with us.
This follows on from some other sad news in the last few months when we also lost dear old Rusty, my very first customer and a lovely Heinz 57. He had health problems from when I first started walking him but he got lease of life when he was joined by a new four legged friend, but by then his legs were too weak to need long walks with me, but I heard he was very happy spending time with his new partner around the house and he was in good spirits. But unfortunately eventually his legs gave up completely and the only kind thing to do was to put him to sleep peacefully. Emma and Pete gave him a great life and he was so well looked after all the time.
It was a real pleasure looking after Woody and Rusty whilst they were with us and I'll keep the memories with me for a very long time.
